At SOTA Dental in Mexico, a bone graft usually takes place during your implant surgery on the same trip. This is the most common approach because it shortens the overall timeline and allows the implant and graft to heal together. Most patients only need three to five days in Mexico for this combined procedure, and the healing phase happens at home over the next several months.
However, if the bone is severely deteriorated, the graft may need to be done as a standalone procedure. This means the first trip is only for the bone graft itself, which still takes about three to five days. After returning home, the graft typically needs three to six months to harden and create enough density to support implants. Once the new bone has matured, you return for a second trip to place the implants.
The total timeline depends entirely on your bone quality, but the procedure itself is fast, predictable, and well handled by our SOTA Dental surgeons in Mexico. Whether done together with implants or in a separate trip, our in house imaging and surgical technology make the entire experience efficient and safe.
