Recovery time after getting dental implants in Mexico varies depending on the type of treatment you receive, the condition of your bone, and whether any additional procedures are needed. For most patients receiving a single implant, the initial recovery period is usually 3 to 7 days. During this time, swelling and tenderness gradually decrease, and most people can return to normal daily activities within a week. The implant will continue healing beneath the surface while the bone integrates around it, but the discomfort phase is generally short.
If you receive full mouth implants or an All on X procedure, expect a longer recovery period because these surgeries involve more implants and more extensive work. Most patients need about 7 to 10 days to feel comfortable, with swelling and soreness peaking in the first 72 hours, then steadily improving. Even during full arch treatments, our patients are able to walk, eat soft foods, and move around normally during their stay. You can return home during this early healing phase, but you will need to follow the instructions given by your SOTA Dental surgeon to keep the implants stable.
Complete healing of the implant inside the bone takes longer. The osseointegration phase, where the bone fully fuses with the implant, usually takes 3 to 6 months depending on your health, bone density, and lifestyle habits. Some patients with excellent bone quality can receive their final teeth on the same trip, while others will return for their final prosthesis on a second visit once the bone has fully strengthened. Your SOTA Dental doctor will evaluate your bone during your visit and let you know exactly what to expect for your case.
